Skin Types

Skin type is debatable. Some people feel they are always oily, while others feel they are always dry. The first necessary step to determine your skin type is to realize your face is not just the “oily” tip of your nose. What about the areas around your mouth or the areas around your eyes are these oily also? Probably not!

Skin type is determined by examining your whole face. The key to determining your skin type is pore size, number of pores and their location on your face.

Oily Skin Type

Oily Skin Type: Your skin is shiny and may feel bumpy. The pores are large and visible on the majority of your face: many of them may be quite large. Oily skin tends to be prone to moderate to severe acne with dark spots and skin discoloration.

Normal / Combination Skin Type

Normal / Combination Skin Type: Pores vary in size and tend to be present on your forehead, nose, cheeks and chin area. Normal / Combination skin types tend to have a few areas which are oily and other areas are slightly dry. Acne is mild to moderate with some dark spots and skin discoloration.

Dry Skin Type

Dry Skin Type: Pores are few, if any can be seen. Dry skin types tend to have a very matte finish because of an accumulation of dead skin cells. Acne breakouts are very infrequent, few to no spots and mild to moderate skin discoloration.
